2023 Upshur St. 
Gingerbread House Contest

The following categories are available for entry into the 2023 Upshur Street Gingerbread House Contest:

• Family or Youth Team—Teams with children ages 17 and under. Teams may be comprised entirely of youths, or adults and youths.

​

• Adult Individual—Adults ages 18 and up working alone.

​

1. Read the contest information and entry rules below.

2. Complete the entry form by December 7th, 2023.

3. Build your Gingerbread House creation by December 8th, 2023.

4. Drop off your Gingerbread House between 1 – 7 pm at 4203 9th Street NW on Thursday, December 8th.

Entry Rules

1. Entries must be placed on a board base.

2. Everything above the board base of your entry must be composed entirely of edible materials. Edible materials are not limited to candies and icings - you are welcome to use other edible items including gum paste, fondant, chocolate, etc. 

3. There are no size limitations. 

4. Your entry must be labeled with the name/title of your entry and your name (or the name of your team captain). The recommended location for the label is the outer edge of the base.

5. To be eligible for the competition, entrants must register on the website (below) by December 7th, 2023 at midnight EST.

JUDGING CRITERIA

All entries will be judged on four criteria: 1) Overall Appearance, 2) Originality and Creativity, 3) Difficulty, 4) Precision 

​

Competitors are welcome and encouraged to uniquely design their entry for the 2023 competition.

Note: Each participant may only submit one entry. For family and youth teams, the distribution of ribbon and splitting of any prize will be left to the team captain to determine. We are not able to supply ribbons for each participant.
